Monday in Israel

Today, we said goodbye to our loving parents and started our journey to Israel, the holy land. The plane we boarded was was a 787 airbus and was a beautiful plane. We were able to see the sun rise and it was truly magical experience. The light illuminated from the sun rise made us think "Hashem is watching over us, and he will keep us safe." When the plane landed we were greeted by Betzalel, Yonit, Nevo, and Edan. Yonit told us an inspiring story about Jews in Palestine sticking up for the other Jews that were trying to enter under the British Mandate, by giving the immigrants their clothes so they would look like natives. After that we had a wonderful tefillah on the beach in תל-אביב and we were able to each connect with G-d differently through our special individual amidah. Friday

Sent from my iPhoneToday we went to Yad Vashem. It was an enlightening experience, because we learned about how Holocaust survivors were able to return to society even stronger than they were before. We felt very appreciative of what we had when we saw how whole families were wiped out and never got to say goodbye. We later presented first person poems that we wrote pertaining to the St. Louis. After that we went to Har Hertzel in which one of the very first things we did was share our hopes and dreams. After that we visited Channah Senesh's burial site and learned about her eagerness to help Jews in need all around the world. Then we saw Yonatan Natenyahoo's grave and learned about his selflessness and bravery. Next we learned about Mike Levin who was a Lone Soldier, and the only American to die in the second Lebanon War. Following that we learned about Roei Klein and how he jumped on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers.He survived, only to be killed by another grenade that ...

Israel Tuesday,April 17

Tuesday, April 17 This morning after our first Israeli breakfast, we went to a museum called "Dialogue in the Dark." This exhibit took us through a simulation about what it was like to be a blind person. We were taken through a series of pitch black rooms, which each demonstrated what it's like to be blind in different environments. For example, we went through a room that simulated what it would be like to be in a city while blind. The noises and smells helped us determine where we were. We also had a guide to help us maneuver through room after room. What I found interesting about the tour was that each group was led by either a blind or visually impaired individual. Also, the food in the last room, which was a cafeteria, was served by a blind man.  After that, we went to the Palmach exhibit.
